The ION Pro Battery Pack is from Powapacs provides a compact, lightweight option for powering your CPAP machine on your travels. The integrated Lithium-Ion battery means the Ion Pro weighs just 1kg, and includes a 12v cigarette lighter socket to connect to your CPAP machine. The capacity of 98Wh means most CPAP machines will get one nights use, and some will get a second as well.

The capacity of this battery makes it “airline friendly”, as the 98Wh capacity is below the 100Wh limit imposed by most airlines. However – always check your airline’s policy before leaving for the airport, just to be certain.

Please note that this battery also has a mains plug socket, but using this will reduce running times significantly. We strongly recommend using the appropriate 12V cable for your CPAP machine rather than the mains plug. See below for details of which 12v cable you should use for your machine.

The Ion Pro battery pack comes with a solar charger included, allowing you to use your CPAP machine entirely off-grid.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The estimated run times are based on using a 12V power cable without a humidifier and heated tube.

The above times are estimates only, and are not guaranteed. Actual running times will vary based on multiple factors including machine, pressure setting, altitudes, mask leakage, exhalation relief, and more.

Technically you can power a humidifier using the Ion Pro, but run times will be significantly less than the times above. Heated humidifiers use a lot more electricity than a CPAP machine by itself. Running times will be around 20-30% of the estimates above, so we do not recommend using a heated humidifier with this battery.

Need a longer running time? Please instead consider the Atom Pro Battery Pack, which has nearly 4 times the capacity.

Our recommendation if you need humidification while travelling would be to consider a Waterless Humidifier. These are small filter-type devices that sit between your mask and tube, recycling the humidity from your exhaled breath. This provides a good level of humidification without needing a heated humidifier, meaning you will be able to get considerably more hours use from your Ion Pro Battery Pack. Many travel devices, such as the AirMini and M1 Mini, offer compatible waterless humidification options.

Which 12V DC cable do I need?

You will need the appropriate power adapter to connect the Ion Pro Compact CPAP Battery Pack to your CPAP machine. Intus provide most of the appropriate cables, which you can find below:

*Please note that ResMed states that their cables are “not for aircraft use”. Please bear this in mind if planning to use your ResMed machine on a flight. We suspect that means not to use the cable directly into the aircraft power supply should there be a socket available at your seat, as it is difficult to see why you would not be able to use it with an independent battery source such as this one. However the wording on this note is unclear and we would strongly recommend seeking clarification from ResMed and your airline as to whether or not it will be OK to use this cable on a flight with an independent battery pack rather than the aircraft’s power.
