Oniris is an innovative and patented Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD) designed to provide maximum levels of comfort and efficacy. The device is similar to a mouthguard for sportsmen or a dental splint and gently retains your lower jaw in a forward position during sleep. Once in place, the device allows air to pass freely through the throat, preventing the obstructions that cause snoring and Sleep Apnoea.

Numerous clinical studies have shown that this technique works. Oniris is the only solution to offer patients a customised fitting and total freedom of movement for a comfortable and effective adjustment.

In addition, Oniris is the first – and only – thermoplastic (heat and bite) MAD that is non-inferior to custom-made devices1.

 

How it works

Oniris includes two sizes in every pack. It is advised that you start with the small size, and in the event this is too small, try the larger device. Each Oniris MAD has an average lifespan of between 12 and 24 months, making it one of the most cost-effective Sleep Apnoea therapies over its lifespan. The device can also be remoulded up to 5 times – a useful function if you are undergoing dental work.

The device has nine adjustment settings. Starting with 0 – when you take the impression. Advancement then starts with position 1. If you are new to mandibular advancement, it is advised that you wear the device for short periods throughout the day before wearing it for a full night of sleep. Your jaw and teeth will need time to adjust, and a slow introduction can reduce the chance of tooth and jaw discomfort.

Once you are happy and comfortable with position 1, you move up to position 2 and so on until you reach a level of advancement which is suitable for you. Advancement options are from 0 to 11mm.

Maintenance

Your Oniris device should be kept in its box at all times and at a temperature below 45C. After each use, brush the device with a toothbrush and toothpaste, then rinse thoroughly with cold water.

It is highly recommended to use effervescent disinfectant tablets to prevent odours and the development of biofilms. Nitradine tablets are great for cleaning and safely disinfecting removable dental appliances, including dentures, orthodontic retainers and bite guards and are clinically proven to be effective against harmful bacteria.
