Benefits of the ResMed AirFit F20 Full Face Mask

The ResMed F20 combines technology and comfort and is a popular choice. In ResMed internal studies, 86% of the patients preferred the seal of AirFit F20 when compared to other leading full-face masks. Most patients also said they prefer this mask’s stability and ease of use.

This mask uses magnetic headgear clips that may interfere with implanted medical devices such as pacemakers. A full list of potentially affected devices can be found here. If you need a mask without magnetic clips, browse our range of Magnet-Free CPAP Masks.

Comfortable Design:

The ResMed F20 features a lightweight design and a soft, flexible silicone cushion that moulds to the contours of the face. This provides a secure fit while minimising pressure points.

The magnetic headgear clips allow for effortless removal and reattachment. The “arms” from the main frame of the mask to the headgear have a fabric cover. The fabric prevents unnecessary silicone contact with the skin, preventing red marks or skin irritation and providing enhanced comfort.

The F20’s frame is also designed to provide a clear line of sight for reading and watching television before going to sleep.

QuietAir Feature:

The QuietAir elbow of the F20 mask is great for those who value a quiet sleeping environment. This feature reduces noise by 89%, making the exhaled air leave the mask 70% more gently. This feature significantly reduces noise and minimises disturbances for the wearer and their bed partner.

Advanced InfinitySeal Cushion:

The mask features a soft, dual-wall InfinitySeal silicone cushion. This allows for a looser fit while still comfortably contouring to the face. The cushion also combines two silicone finishes. A smooth finish for a superior grip and a frosted texture over the bridge of the nose to reduce skin damage.

Easy Maintenance:

ResMed has designed the AirFit F20 with simplicity in mind. It features easily detachable components for effortless cleaning and maintenance.

Sizing

We have found that the ResMed F20 does not size the same as other masks, including previous ResMed masks. We strongly recommend using the Sizing Guide in the Downloads tab before ordering. Please do not assume that being a medium in your current mask means you will be medium size with this mask.

Important: All sizes come with standard headgear. if you require smaller or larger headgear, you must purchase it separately. We are unable to exchange or swap the one supplied in the pack. The standard size generally fits most patients, regardless of the cushion size.

Fitting

Once your mask arrives, we encourage you to watch this short step-by-step guide to achieve a perfect fit. We also recommend adjusting the mask once you lie down, as your face will change shape.

Due to the magnets used in this mask, it should not be used by patients that have implanted devices that may be affected by magnets. This extends to those with household members, caregivers, and bed partners that may be in close vicinity to the masks. Such devices include but not limited to:

Mask Fit Insurance is available for this mask

If you are considering trying this mask for the first time, you can order in confidence using Mask Fit Insurance.

Mask Fit Insurance costs £14.99 for nasal masks and £19.99 for full face masks, and allows you to return this mask for a refund if unsuitable.

You have 28 days from the dispatch date to assess the mask and notify us that you are unhappy with it for any reason. You can return it and have it refunded (we must receive it back within 7 days of being notified).

The fee for the insurance is non-refundable once the mask is opened, as are any outgoing postage costs. The mask itself will be refunded in full.

A pre-paid returns label will be included for customers in the UK. We strongly recommend getting a proof of postage (which is free) as returns not received cannot be refunded. For overseas customers, the return postage will need to be arranged by the customer and this cannot be reimbursed.

CPAP masks purchased without insurance cannot be returned/refunded once opened for hygiene reasons, as explained in our returns policy.

Mask Fit Insurance must be ordered at the same time as the mask in question, and cannot be added retroactively.

Intus Healthcare reserve the right not to honour any orders containing multiple masks purchased with Insurance; please instead choose which mask you feel is most suitable and select the size required as per the sizing gauge (if applicable). Should you subsequently determine a different mask or size is required, you can of course return the first and order the other.

If you need any further information, please use the chat function (if available), or contact us.

How long does the AirFit F20 last?

A CPAP mask’s lifespan is typically between 6 and 9 months, depending on how it is maintained. Regular cleaning and replacement of worn parts will prolong its use.

How do you take apart a ResMed AirFit F20?

To take F20 apart, follow these steps:

  • Remove the elbow from the frame by pressing the side buttons and pulling the elbow away.
  • Unclip the magnets
  • Undo the upper headgear tabs and pull the strap away from the frame.
  • Hold the side of the frame between the lower and upper arms and gently pull the cushion away from the frame.
How do you clean a ResMed AirFit F20?

Your mask needs to be washed daily. Washing your face before applying the mask will also improve the quality of your therapy.

You should disassemble and rinse the parts in clean, warm, soapy water. Avoid strong cleaners, as these can damage the silicone cushion. Once clean, all the parts should be left to air dry.

Items are available to maintain your mask, and we recommend Mask Wipes and the SoClean 2 CPAP sanitiser for quick and easy cleaning.

Why would I need a full face mask?

A full face mask is recommended if you breathe through your mouth while sleeping, even for short periods. The AirFit F20 allows you to receive therapy through both the nose and mouth.

When will I need to replace my mask cushion?

You should replace the cushion as soon as it softens or shows signs of wear and tear. Not doing so could result in air leaks and reduce the effectiveness of your therapy. The headgear will need replacing when it loses elasticity. All the necessary parts are on the Airfit F20 Parts page.

Replacing the entire mask is more cost-effective if both the headgear and cushion are worn.
