The revolutionary soft cloth mask that keeps getting plaudits

“Brilliant, much more comfortable than an ordinary mask, highly recommended”
“It is truly wonderful to wear with no pressure on the face whatsoever, thank goodness”
Michael Dicken
“This mask beats anything else for comfort, ease of use and overall health benefits”
“An absolute must. Lightweight, no cold spots, easy fitting and low maintenance”

The Circadiance SleepWeaver Advance Soft Cloth Nasal CPAP Mask is a breakthrough in CPAP therapy, which is revolutionising the industry and causing people to reassess their views on using CPAP treatment. The radical mask has replaced both the materials and concepts from all previous masks and has rebooted the approach to CPAP mask design. It brings a new level of comfort, stability and satisfaction.

The SleepWeaver uses an entirely new concept in CPAP mask design. It was designed around balloon physics. When a balloon is inflated, the pressure inside is spread perfectly across the entire surface, meaning there are no pressure points and no areas with more pressure than any other. This same principle is used in the design of the SleepWeaver CPAP mask. The pressure from your CPAP system inflates the mask, and the pressure is spread across the surface of the mask and your face. As the mask inflates, the fabric adapts to your face’s shape and contours, creating a perfect seal. This eliminates any pressure points on the face, and also prevents leaks as there is no single point around the seal with more pressure than any other.

Because the seal is created by the pressure from your CPAP system, this means that it no longer relies on the headgear to maintain the seal. The SleepWeaver‘s headgear is simply three straps designed to keep the mask in place rather than prevent leaks or provide stability, and so minimal pressure is required. This all equates to the most comfortable, and least obtrusive CPAP mask ever created.

What makes SleepWeaver CPAP masks “Skin-Friendly”?

BREATHABLE – Any moisture from the skin or from the CPAP humidifier wicks through the cloth and evaporates into the air stream of the SleepWeaver mask. This keeps the area between the mask and skin dry.

CUSHION OF AIR – The mask forms a fabric balloon so that the portion that contacts the face is a cushion of air, rather than a silicone or polyurethane gel cushion.

NO RIGID FRAME – The is no rigid frame to press against your face. This lets you roll over on your pillow or sleep face down.

NO PRESSURE POINTS – The elastic fabric on the SleepWeaver interface conforms to your facial features.

LIGHTWEIGHT – SleepWeaver masks are typically 50% lighter than conventional CPAP Masks.

The SleepWeaver range of Skin-Friendly CPAP masks are the softest, lightest and natural-to-wear masks available, and are perfect for those who are find conventional plastic masks uncomfortable.

Advantages of the SleepWeaver Soft Cloth CPAP Mask

The SleepWeaver has five distinct advantages over traditional CPAP interfaces.

1. Quieter

The SleepWeaver features a series of holes on the front of the mask for exhalation. The design means that breath escapes through a wider area, minimising noise and preventing the concentrated stream of air that often leads to whistling. This also allows the exhaled air to disperse more naturally, making exhalation feel more comfortable. Fabric also naturally absorbs sound, rather than the plastic traditionally used which is more likely to create it.

2. Less pressure from the headgear

The design of the SleepWeaver means that the seal is created by the pressure from your CPAP system, rather than the headgear. This means that the headgear does not have to be too tight, as it is only used to hold the mask in position, rather than to additionally improve the seal’s tightness. So as well as the face having no pressure point, there is also very little tension placed around your head.

3. More sleeping positions

The minimal design of the SleepWeaver naturally lends itself to a wider range of sleeping positions, as it is similar in shape to many nasal pillow CPAP mask which allow for side sleeping. However, the cloth design means it can mould and adapt to pillow contact without losing seal – a common problem with even the most flexible CPAP masks. You can sleep on your back, side or even front, knowing the pillow contact is no longer a problem.

4. No skin irritation

The cloth material used for the SleepWeaver is both soft and breathable, meaning it continues to feel comfortable and natural even over a prolonged period of time. Instead of becoming more uncomfortable over time, it actually becomes almost unnoticeable like a typical item of clothing. The use of fabric means it doesn’t become sticky or cause allergic reactions. The mask is entirely latex and silicon free.

5. Reduced air leakage

The balloon inspired design means that no one area of the inside of the mask has any more pressure than any other, which helps to prevent leaks. As the mask inflates, the fabric naturally adapts to the shape and contours of your face to ensure a perfect and comfortable seal. Because the seal is formed by the pressure from within the mask, rather than the headgear fittings, it can maintain this seal when you move or shift, even when this leads to pillow contact.

New small size gives greater choice!

Originally only available in a single size, the SleepWeaver Advance now has a Small size option for those with finer facial features. Generally speaking, most female CPAP users will find the Small provides a better fit, while most men will want to choose the regular. The small is only available in beige, and the regular only in blue. Hopefully the colour of the size you need is the one you prefer – but if not remember to choose practicality over style when ordering!

How to fit the SleepWeaver Advance – 2 minute Quick Tips video

The SleepWeaver masks are made from cloth, and therefore the technique for getting them to fit varies greatly from a typical CPAP mask. Below are a couple of short videos to help you get the SleepWeaver Advance working for you. The first is specifically for the SleepWeaver Advance, while the second is for the SleepWeaver range in general. Please watch both, they’re only a couple of minutes in length each but should provide invaluable information to help you get that “just right” fit.

Such a relief. After years of the heavy, uncomfortable NHS provided silicone masks, this lightweight alternative is a real treat. The small one would only be good for those of us with a short upper lip and narrow bridge to nose.

Effective and comfortable. I was diagnosed with severe OSA around 8 months ago and have been using a full face silicone mask mask until I bought a SleepWeaver cloth mask a little over a week ago (it arrived within 2 days of placing the order).

It took a few minutes of adjustment on the first night to get a good seal, but after that I got an excellent night’s sleep and have done every night since. The mask is very light and unobtrusive. It is also significantly quieter than my previous mask. Another advantage I have noticed is that the mask keeps it seal at higher pressures – I use auto CPAP and sometimes my old mask used to leak when the machine increased the pressure waking me up and I then had to tighten the straps – the new mask maintains its seal despite the variations in pressure.

Cleaning is simple – I just wash it through with soapy water, rinse it and hang it up to dry.

To summarize: So far I consider this buying this mask to have been a very good decision and the main advantages to be the increased comfort and ease of cleaning.

It is so different that it is hard to believe how good it is.. I have been using my (pink) SleepWeaver for a few weeks now and it is so different to anything else. I already have 2 types of full face mask and another nasal mask so have a lot to compare it to. What makes it so different is that there are no pressure points so no sore nose of anything. It works great, is easy to fit although I do find the straps cover my ear lobes unlike the video says but it really doesn’t matter. There is little air loss so the pressure you are using my be a little higher than you are used to as there is little leakage. If it does leak it makes a very rude noise 🙂 I am sure my husband thinks I am passing wind when it does occasionally leak! One of the really good points is that you can scratch your nose through the mask so no more laying there for ages delaying the scratch. You can also have a drink or water without taking the complete thing off, just take off the hose and drink away. Should I go on more? Perhaps not, but take my word for it, it is brilliant.

Newbie success. I have had OSA for several years – treated with a dental device until other half announced that snoring was as bad as ever – so went about getting CPAP the fast way (i.e. did it myself). Didn’t much like the idea of a hard mask, so thought I’d give SleepWeaver a go – and expected the usual start up difficulties – not sleeping, mask marks etc – and had almost none of those. Settled into the routine very quickly – the mask fits well, and if there are leaks tugging it back & forth or up and down usually fixes that quickly and off to the land of nod. Only downside is that when my APAP has got up to high pressure the mask can whistle when it leaks – but this is a relatively rare occurrence. Easily washed in dishwashing liquid, press between towels and leave to air dry. I’ve only ever tried one mask – this one – and it works.

    Bob The Builder

Brillant, fantastic, given me hope!. I am new to OSA and was diagnosed a few weeks ago. I was given the Resmed Swift FX nasal mask and was using it for 2 weeks. I was continuously blocked up and trying all sorts of remedies and finding it very hard to get off to sleep. I heard about the Sleepweaver mask and was so desperate for sleep decided to invest the £100.00 to see how it performed.

I was disappointed when it arrived and I opened the packaging and wondered how it could be worth £100.00 but it is absolutely fantastic. The first night I had 8 hours sleep and thereafter between 6 – 8 hours per night. It is very light to wear, there is no back pressure whilst breathing out and even when I’m partially blocked up it is still easy to breath and fall asleep quickly. This is the best £100.00 I have ever spent and now I’m well on my way to clock up the hours and retain my driving licence!

I would recommend it to anyone

Amazing. I felt at home with the Sleepweaver straight away. It is incredibly comfortable and unbelievably lightweight. It’s wonderful being able to itch my nose without having to take the mask off.

You need to be careful to route the hose properly as the mask does not have a swivel – I have it in a “U” shape down to chest height and back over the headboard which works fine for me – it’s exactly because the mask is so soft that you need to control the hose otherwise the hose pulls the mask out of shape. However, this is no real issue – I only mention it because it is unique to this very innovative mask.

When it comes (and mine came the day after placing the order) in a little packet, you think that you have paid a lot for not much mask, but once you have used it you realise that it’s worth every penny. I’ve given 5 stars for comfort, only because I can’t give it ten!

Brilliant. The sleepweaver mask is brilliant. My husband sleeps so much better and we can recommend it. His nose doesn’t get cold or sore. Yahooooo!!!

Extremely comfortable and effective. The good bits

Comfort: It really does fulfil its claims of having no pressure points and being ultra light on the face. I’ve only used one other mask which is a slilicone one, I never want to go back to that again as although that was a good fit and seal it would also rub and chafe occasionally, causing some discomfort. I have not yet (after three weeks) had any discomfort, marks or chafing from the Sleepweaver or its headgear. I can also sleep on my side or back, and roll and move without losing seal or comfort. I can also get away without shaving at night, it doesn’t seem affecte by stubble or uncumfortable if unshaven

Effectiveness: I’m seeing better results from my therapy, I’m guessing it’s from sleeping better due to the comfort of the mask – certainly it doesn’t seal as well when laid still but when moving around it’s way better – a better comprimise. The seal improves as the pressure increases so if it’s sealed at your ramp start (or leaking a little) it’ll be fine at the end of the ramp period.

Size: I travel a lot – my CPAP machine came with a carry case, I could probably fit twenty of these in there with all the other stuff! Also it doesn’t obscure your view, if you fall asleep watching TV this is a good thing – or just can’t stand the sight of the forehead bit on normal masks.

Cleaning – unplug in morning, wash in handbasin with handsoap, rinse, hang to dry, use again in the evening. Instructions say you can stick it in the washine machine but that’s more hassle for me but at least it’s an option.

Noise: When sealed, the Sleepweaver is very quiet and the vent is very diffuse, so very much “partner friendly” and easy to live with.

    The bad bits

Getting it sealed: First time took me 30 mins or more of adjusting, thankfully the headgear stays attached and in place when removing and when washing so once adjusted it’s not too bad. Every night there’s a couple of minutes of tweaking just to get rid of the leaks. It has so far though never leaked badly or fallen out of place in the night. I find the lower straps need to be a bit tighter than my other mask but the top one is quite loose.

The headgear: It’s too small. I have a large head admittedly but it only just fits and is hard to get low enough for the lower straps to come under your ears. No crown strap either.

Price: I’m putting this in the “bad bits” purely on the fact that it’s made in Mexico so cheap labour, there’s not a lot of material and it’s going to be cheap to ship around the world due to its size. Economies of scale will hopefully bring the price down as they sell more of them, and it’s hard to put a price on comfort and effectiveness, but really, I think it’s expensive. HOWEVER I wholeheartedly recommend it despite the cost. Because of this I’ve given it 1 for price and 5 for value – it’s too dear for what it is, but it’s worth it for what it does and how it does it.

Hose positioning – it’s straight down only. I have no problem with this other than having to reposition my machine as it makes the hose a bit short. I have a longer hose on order…

If you can afford it you definitely owe it to yourself to try it – I doubt any plastic or silicone mask can come close to it for comfort, though anyone using particularly low pressures (<6 hPa) may have difficulty getting it to seal. The good points about this product FAR outweigh anything you can say that's bad about it. I've read over and over that mask comfort is on of the keys to effective compliance and treatment - I would say that this is a product that can genuinely help with that.

    cat lady

SleepWeaver Advance Soft Cloth Nasal CPAP Mask. I have been using sleep weaver mask for about 2 months. I find it very comfortable to use. The only problem is that the straps which are meant to go under your ears, sit on your ear lobes. I get around this by placing a tissue on each ear and then fitting the mask. Please could you pass information this information back to manufacturer.

Poor. Despite following the instructions I was unable to stop this mask leaking from the edges, especially upwards towards my eyes. I tried for two weeks and have now given up. I had to adjust the straps quite tightly but was still unable to stop it leaking and in the end the cold air blowing on my eyes was too much and I have given up. The mask itself is comfortable and as it’s cloth it is easy to lie sideways on the pillow, it was not quiet and should have clip fasteners instead of velcro for that price! It has obviously worked for some people, must have a funny face.

Great product over priced. I am very happy with this and would now use nothing else, however they are far cheaper in the USA and I feel that they are overpriced for what they are. Sad as one would order more, but of course price dictates.

However for me this mask beats anything else on the Markets for comfort, ease of use and of course overall health benefits. I am hoping the price will come down as they sell more, Lets wait and see.

    Michael Dicken

Truly wonderful to use. Although this mask is expensive, however like most people I pondered wether to buy this mask and I am glad I did.

Although I have only used it for a afternoon cat nap, I can tell straight away the advantages over my other masks, it is a truly wonderful to wear with no pressure on the face what so ever, thank goodness I cannot wait to have an interrupted good night sleep.

Sleepweaver mask. Have recently purchase mask and found it not as good as claimed in fact nowhere near, find it noisy and constantly breaking air seal i think this is due to weight of tube its price does not reflect quality . I have gone back to my gel face mask with lesser problems although again not with out faults.

Brlliant lightweight mask – A real must. Brilliant mask, much more comfortable than ordinary mask, got rid of my strap marks even sleepingon my side, very lightweight, highly recommended and a worthwhile investment.

Brilliant light weight mask but far too expensive.. An absolute must. Light weight, no cold spots, easy fitting and low maintenance. I no longer get strap marks even sleeping on my side. Only negative is cost, materials and labour must be minimal, I cannot see how cost is justified – shame as it may mean more people cannot afford this great benefit.

Great product won’t use anything else !. I tried 4 masks before I found sleepweaver and I have used these masks since sept last year . I have 2 and would never go back to another type . I am a side sleeper and have arthritis I’n my neck so getting comfy is a problem before I even wear a mask ! It’s quiet and works well, my two gripes are the headgear is too small around my head and the elastic a the front is too long so I have to tie it , I have a small nose so getting a seal is difficult at the top . The other problem is that it rests on my earlobes .

One other issue is despite having two sleepweavers they have started to disintegrate around the slits the straps go through and the while rubber seal t is peeling off . I have been very careful when washing but at nearly £100 each I am saving up for a new one – wish they were on nhs !

Sleepweaver Advance Soft Cloth Nasal Mask. I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnoea after tests in October 2010.I was marginal for treatment under the NHS but had been puzzled by excess sleepiness during the day.I had not been aware I even snored badly until I recorded myself sleeping during the night & found not only did I snore but had regular interruptions in my breathing of up to 30 seconds where I was struggling to breath & eventually partially woke up with a snort.

Had some problems getting used to a CPAP machine until I used a humidifier & found the Sleepweaver Mask. Now I can sleep for 7 hours continuous unninterupted sleep. As other Sleepweaver reviews the product appears very expensive for what it is but is considerably better in comfort than other Rigid Nasal & Full Face masks I have tried. Therefore I would certainly recommend a Sleepweaver mask particularly for new users struggling to get used to CPAP equipment. What price a good nights sleep..

    Silent Thunder

Good but too expensive. It is comfortable and easy to wear. Allows you to sleep on your side and even almost facing down with a bit of practice. Once you get it fitted correctly you only need to losen one side to get it on and off.

All in all it is a great product but can do with some improvements specially the price !

“Improved” ROFL!!!. Sleepeweaver masks are without doubt the mnost comfortable I’ve ever had, but “improved”?

The new and improved version lasts roughly half as long as the old one – the head straps start to disintegrate in a couple of months, and the mask itself follows shortly after.

So, at half or quarter of the price it might be good value – as it is, you’ve just got to accept you’re paying way over the odds and someone is making a very hefty product from your apnoea.

Pretty good but small. I have been using CPAP for about 10 years. I always have two masks, as i was once advised that using one mask constantly for a long time is not good. Good advice, I find is good to swop around and this avoids sore points etc.

As it happens I have had this mask for about 6 months and I have only now ordered a back up (My fifth Nasal Aire 2 – great product). So this has had a really good try out.

It is neat, light and small. However, maybe I am a big nosed person, but I find it small for me. It also leaks (don’t they all?), but the construction means this does not get in my eyes. Nevertheless, to get it reasonably air tight I have to tighten it a lot at the bottom and then the straps cut into me. Classic problem of a one-size mask.

Despite all this I am still using it. It does not fit right down on my nose (I am a medium build man) so I find myself pulling it into place before I fall asleep. It works. It just is not the answer to all my problems.

The DVD does explain how to fit it – I put it on and then pull the bottom of the back strap. That extends the elastic top straps.

There is no point complaining about the price – all CPAP masks need the certification and insurance of a mdeical device which costs the money (look at the PIP implant scandal). Any medical device costs a lot compared to its material cost using every day stuff. They use very high grade materials and medical standard parts are very dear. Not much of this shows on the outside.

    Overall, pretty good.

Great mask, shame about the headgear. The business end of the mask is great but the actual strapping isn’t of the greatest quality. I purchased two masks last August. They pretty much lose their elasticity within a few months. Despite taking great care the headgear is starting to disintegrate too.

Material perished within weeks. I really could not afford this sleepweaver mask, but as I could not tolerate other masks, decided to break the bank and give it a go. To begin with I was pleased as it was far more tolerable than the harder masks. My AHI index was slightly higher with the sleepweaver but not significant enough to worry about. As others have said, it did cause a sore patch under both ears but I was willing to put up with that. Unfortunately after only about 20 uses, the material around the edges of the part that goes over the nose started to perish and get loose, hence leaking started and progressively got worse as more of the material perished. Such a waste of money that I could not afford.

This has potential but not quite there yet. I have recently purchased one of these, and like a couple of the other reviewers here, do not believe that the price reflects the product, or the quality of the product itself.

I have tried this for a few nights, and find it impossible for it not to leak. The main area where I am getting leaks is around the bridge of the nose/under the eyes.

My CPAP machine is also complaining that the mask fit is incorrect.

I have spent several hour adjusting, re-adjusting, and then giving up and going back to my gel mask, which although not as comfortable, doesn’t leak!

Personally not happy with this product at all – and new buyers should be aware that you can not send the item back for a refund! If you can’t get on with this, you are stuck with it!I think mine may end up on ebay very soon so at least I can attempt to recoup some of the outlay!

This has been the mask that works. I didn’t get on with the mask at first – I have had great trouble with CPAP – and over two years have struggles and tried many different masks. At first I thought I was an inveterate mouth breather and the Sleepweaver would not work. But I persevered and just mentally told myself to keep my mouth shut and a miracle occurred and I slept a whole night through with the Sleepweaver two months ago and have slept every night with it since. It has been amazing.

Best on the market. British NHS user – attended the London Sleep Centre (private) for a two night study and they provided this mask for me. It was the most comfortable thing I have ever worn. There is some leakage, and the comments about the elastic headgear losing its shape are true, but I just tend to tighten it by putting knots in it when that happens. I’m not modelling it! I have bought a new one every 6 months. Expensive perhaps, but this is the best night’s sleep I’ve ever had. “Reassuringly expensive” as the Stella Artois advertising goes….
